The Respiratory Therapist 3 provides comprehensive respiratory care services and diagnostic evaluations with exceptional skill and expertise. This role integrates clinical knowledge, technical skills, and practical experience to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The therapist adheres to established standards, guidelines, and protocols to deliver superior care. Continuous improvement in practice and patient outcomes is a critical component of this position. Effective communication with healthcare team members, patients, and their families is essential.
Key Responsibilities- Administers weaning protocols with proficiency in over 90% of ventilated patients.
- Assesses the necessity for ongoing ventilator support in more than 95% of patients daily.
- Develops and refines ventilator management plans, communicating effectively with care teams.
- Conducts diagnostic tests and collects specimens, ensuring accurate interpretation of results.
- Formulates individualized respiratory care plans based on diagnostic data and patient responses.
- Implements advanced therapeutic interventions, such as heliox and nitric oxide, with minimal supervision.
- Applies clinical practice guidelines and departmental protocols with precision.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives and records relevant data.
- Engages in staff education and training, contributing to the development of clinical skills.
- Documents care provided with high accuracy and compliance with established protocols.
- Provides educational support to patients and families as needed.
- Certification: Basic Life Support; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT); ACLS, PALS, or NRP certification.
- Licensure: Licensed Respiratory Therapist in Virginia.
- Experience: Minimum of two years in critical care.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
