Job Title: Operating Apprentice 1

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Operating Apprentice 1 to join our team at West Fraser. As an Operating Apprentice 1, you will be responsible for learning the basic operation of various machines and tasks in our planer or sawmill. This is an entry-level position that offers on-the-job training and the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a dynamic and challenging environment.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Learn and operate various machines and tasks in the planer or sawmill
* Develop skills and knowledge in machine operation and maintenance
* Assist and support experienced operators in their daily tasks
* Participate in clean-up activities, including sweeping, shoveling, and lifting
* Work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

**Work Environment:**

* The work area is typically inside, but not centrally heated or cooled
* A local heater/fan is provided to maintain a comfortable temperature
* The work environment is dynamic and may involve temperature extremes

**Physical Demands:**

* Frequent bending, walking, and standing
* Occasional repetitive hand movements
* Frequent pushing, pulling, reaching, and lifting (up to 50 lbs)
* Occasional twisting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling or squatting
