Fiber Laser Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Fiber Laser Engineer to join our team at General Atomics and Affiliated Companies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop innovative solutions to advanced technical problems in engineering.
  • Provide technical guidance and consulting to other staff members working on difficult engineering problems.
  • Anticipate future engineering needs and the modifications required to accomplish a technical goal.
  • Address complex and difficult technical issues requiring novel and highly creative approaches drawing on advanced engineering concepts.
  • Assume technical and engineering responsibility of the success of an identifiable project.

Requirements:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree, master's degree, or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Progressive engineering experience as follows: six or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree, four or more years of experience with a master's degree, or two or more years with a PhD.
  • Experience with optical fiber system build and integration, including fiber splicing, laser integration, optical testing, and electronics/mechanical integration.
  • Capability to operate fiber splicing systems and to work with fragile optical components, requiring a strong attention to detail, precision hand-eye coordination, and ability to work independently.

Additional Information:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.
  • Current clearance preferred.
