We are currently in search of a dedicated individual to fill the role of a Safety and Security Specialist. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Safety and Security Specialist is tasked with overseeing the property, preventing underage access, managing entry to restricted zones, responding to incidents involving guests and team members, and ensuring the overall safety and security of all individuals on-site. Exceptional guest service is expected in alignment with Oaklawn's Core Values and Standards of Behavior. Additional responsibilities include:
  • Monitoring compliance with operational protocols for activities such as guest service standards, fire safety, emergency procedures, and patrolling the premises.
  • Ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements.
  • Enforcing state gaming laws, including the identification and removal of underage individuals from the gaming area.
  • Addressing verbal and physical confrontations and implementing appropriate conflict resolution measures.
  • Coordinating with management regarding scheduling concerns while prioritizing guest satisfaction.
  • Implementing internal control policies and procedures.
  • Conducting regular inspections of security posts.
  • Preparing incident reports and maintaining security logs.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and reporting potential issues to management.
  • Patrolling designated areas to deter theft, violence, and safety hazards.
  • Conducting door checks to ensure the security of locked areas.
  • Responding promptly to all security alarms and calls, operating communication equipment in accordance with company policy.
  • Safely escorting company funds as required.
  • Providing assistance and directions to guests in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Completing daily tasks and other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Staying informed of safety and emergency procedures.
  • Timely completion of all departmental paperwork.
  • Maintaining knowledge of and adherence to Oaklawn policies and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Communicating effectively with all levels of team members and guests.
  • Exhibiting regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Ensuring a safe working environment for all team members and guests.
  • Maintaining confidentiality at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred experience of 1+ years in security or a related field.
  • Guest service experience is essential.
  • Ability to interact with guests and colleagues, resolving conflicts diplomatically.
  • Maintaining a calm and professional demeanor in all situations.
  • Ability to manage hostile or intoxicated individuals with professionalism.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including holidays and weekends.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
  • Must qualify for necessary licenses and permits as mandated by federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
