Job Overview

Position Summary
This role is integral to the management of rail and freight operations, focusing on the loading and unloading processes as well as the oversight of essential processing equipment. Prioritizing safety, environmental protection, and economic efficiency, the technician will facilitate the conversion of raw materials into liquid sodium cyanide while ensuring prompt deliveries to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the movement of products to and from storage facilities, collaborating with team members to maintain a steady flow of materials.
  • Document operational metrics, including product quantities, gauge readings, and operational durations, either manually or through digital systems.
  • Inspect the condition and weight of containers to confirm cleanliness and adherence to loading protocols.
  • Perform rail car operations, including connecting and disconnecting couplers and air lines, and assisting with railcar positioning.
  • Engage manual braking systems on rail cars as required.
  • Conduct grounds maintenance tasks, such as weed removal.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • Prior experience in warehousing, mining operations, or as a groundsman is advantageous.

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in reading and understanding basic instructions, memos, and correspondence. Capable of writing simple communications and effectively presenting information in small group settings.
  • Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as the ability to compute rates and percentages.
  • Ability to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic forms and to address problems involving multiple concrete variables.

Technical Proficiency

  • Basic computer skills are essential.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to navigate stairs and ramps using various body parts.
  • Frequent hand and wrist movements in a repetitive manner.
  • Capability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Prolonged use of computer systems may be required.
  • Ability to operate vehicles during nighttime hours.

Work Environment

  • Work is conducted in both indoor and outdoor settings with sufficient ventilation.
  • Exposure to potential fumes or airborne particles may occur, with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided.
  • Moderate noise levels are expected when working near machinery, with PPE supplied for all personnel.
