Art Instructor

We are seeking a skilled Art Instructor to join our team at Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Michigan. The successful candidate will assist the Art Works Supervisor in providing a person-centered planning and a safe environment for artists, introducing and facilitating the creation of art through various media, and assisting adults with disabilities in developing vocational skills while producing sellable art.

1. Work closely with artists to motivate and stimulate creativity, innovation, and independent problem-solving to help them reach their highest potential in the art career path.
2. Support progress through positive reinforcement, modeling positive employee behaviors, and providing constructive feedback to enable artists to be as independent and self-sufficient as possible.
3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date progress notes to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
4. Instruct artists in proper care and use of tools and supplies to promote a safe and efficient work environment.
5. Assist in the hanging and presentation of artists' completed artwork to showcase their talents.
6. Participate in art shows and events to promote the artists' work and engage with the community.
7. Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
8. Assist in monitoring program standards in compliance with CARF standards, recipient's rights, CMH, and Goodwill policies and procedures.
9. Assist with customers in the store front, greeting customers, making sales, and being responsible for monies collected.
10. Participate in artists' person-centered planning meetings to ensure effective collaboration and goal-setting.
11. Complete other duties as assigned to support the team and achieve organizational goals.

2. Maintain applicable safety standards, rules, and regulations in areas of responsibility to ensure a safe working environment.
3. Drive performance and improve Goodwill's value to the community through SMART objectives and outcome-driven initiatives.
4. Provide exemplary customer service to internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating a genuine interest in serving the needs of others.
5. Take a leadership role in maximizing the social and financial return of community resources invested in Goodwill.
6. Utilize resources efficiently and effectively to achieve organizational goals and objectives.

8. Demonstrate a positive attitude toward the community, co-workers, and individuals served, representing the organization with a courteous, helpful, and business-like attitude.
9. Assist with arranging staffing and support groups, promoting cooperation and teamwork.
10. Attend weekly Job Coach Meetings and special trainings to stay up-to-date on best practices and organizational initiatives.
11. Ensure documentation and compliance with CARF Standards to maintain accreditation and quality standards.
12. Adjust work hours to include early and late meetings, work schedules, and contacts at various locations.
13. Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Workforce Manager or designee to support the team and achieve organizational goals.
