Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our Medical Surgical Trauma Unit team at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, Colorado. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including vital sign monitoring, hygiene care, and assistance with daily activities.
  • Respond to patient needs, including answering call lights and communicating effectively with the care team.
  • Perform 12-lead EKG duties and apply, check, and document restraints as directed by the RN or physician.
  • Assist with patient transfers, admissions, and discharges, and maintain patient charts and records.
  • Order and maintain office and patient care floor stock and supplies.
  • Perform unit secretary duties, including responding to phone calls and maintaining the daily assignment board.
  • Assist physicians and RNs as directed, and promote the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of an accredited nursing assistant training program.
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of practice.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification.
  • 1+ years of previous experience in a healthcare setting (preferred).
Physical Requirements
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
