Job Summary

Riverton City is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting the community, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol designated areas to prevent and detect crime, and to enforce laws and regulations.
  • Respond to emergency calls, provide assistance, and secure crime scenes.
  • Conduct preliminary investigations, interview witnesses and suspects, and gather evidence.
  • Prepare and submit reports, and testify in court as required.
  • Perform traffic enforcement, issue citations and warnings, and assist motorists.
  • Collect and classify data, and maintain accurate records.
  • Participate in community policing initiatives, and engage with the public to build trust and confidence.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies, and participate in joint investigations and operations.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing laws, regulations, and procedures, and maintain proficiency in the use of firearms and other equipment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field preferred.
  • Utah POST certification or equivalent required; must be able to obtain certification within six months of hire.
  • At least one year of prior law enforcement experience required; experience in a similar role preferred.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds, and to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes in priorities.
  • Must pass a background check, and provide a current copy of your driving record.
Working Conditions

The Police Officer will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent changes in priorities and deadlines. The position requires the ability to work independently, and as part of a team, with minimal supervision. The Police Officer will be required to wear a uniform, and to maintain a high level of physical fitness.
