Job Summary

Soliant is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team in a dynamic school district. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for providing targeted life skills instruction and support to approximately 12 students with moderate disabilities in a sub-separate classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Create and implement tailored education plans for students with moderate disabilities, ensuring their unique needs are met.
  • Provide Direct Instruction and Support: Deliver life skills and academic instruction in a sub-separate classroom, focusing on the growth and development of students with moderate disabilities.
  • Collaborate with Paraprofessionals: Work closely with a team of paraprofessionals to establish a supportive and effective classroom environment, promoting student engagement and learning.
  • Monitor and Document Student Progress: Regularly assess and document student progress, adapting instructional strategies as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Foster a Positive Classroom Culture: Encourage a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, learning, and social growth.
  • Participate in IEP Meetings and Professional Development: Engage in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other professional development activities to stay up-to-date on best practices and ensure student success.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or Related Field: Possess a degree in Special Education or a related field, with a strong foundation in teaching students with moderate disabilities.
  • Valid Massachusetts Special Education Teaching License or Eligibility: Hold a valid Massachusetts Special Education teaching license or be eligible to obtain one.
  • Experience Working with Middle School Students: Preferably, have experience working with middle school students in a special education setting.
  • Knowledge of Strategies for Teaching Students with Moderate Disabilities: Possess knowledge of effective strategies for teaching students with moderate disabilities and life skills.
  • Strong Organizational, Communication, and Collaboration Skills: Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage a classroom with the support of paraprofessionals.
