Job Title: Nurse Educator

The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Educator to join our Health Care Regulation team. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the knowledge and skills of our nurse surveyors, ensuring they are equipped to conduct state and federal surveys, inspections, investigations, and other compliance activities in acute-care programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert consultation and mentorship to nurse surveyors, guiding them on complex cases, survey techniques, and regulatory interpretation.
  • Develop and deliver training content for new and experienced nurse surveyors, covering various topics from basic skills to advanced techniques.
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of statewide training needs, gathering and evaluating data from various sources, including surveys, reports, feedback, and information from CMS.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams, including CMS, regulatory division programs, compliance, quality assurance, policies and rules, and licensing, to ensure that training programs are aligned with federal standards, specific regulatory needs, compliance issues, quality improvement practices, legislative updates, and licensing requirements.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge and application of state and federal regulations related to acute-care programs and facilities, with expertise in Health Care Regulation.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience ensuring compliance through conducting state and federal surveys and investigations.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess large amounts of information, identify key requirements, spot gaps, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Ability to mentor, instruct, train, and supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to provide on-the-job training and technical assistance, ensuring practical application and skill development among staff.
