About the Role

Foster Swift Collins & Smith PC is seeking a highly skilled Litigation Attorney - Defense to join our Southfield office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing files through the litigation process, drafting pleadings, motions, and legal correspondence, and representing clients in negotiations and court proceedings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Case Management: Oversee the litigation process, ensuring timely and effective resolution of cases.
  • Document Preparation: Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses, as well as legal correspondence.
  • Discovery and Litigation: Handle all aspects of discovery, including administering and summarizing depositions, issuing interrogatories, and reviewing documents.
  • Court Representation: Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, trials, evidentiary hearings, and motions.
  • Communication: Communicate complex information to stakeholders with varying levels of expertise in an accessible and clear manner.
Requirements
  • Experience: 3+ years of litigation experience.
  • Admission: Admission to the State Bar of Michigan and good standing.
  • Skills: Excellent persuasive writing, legal research, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Judgment and Analytical Skills: Strong professional judgment, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Work Style: Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a strong work ethic, resourcefulness, and proactive approach.
