Job Title: Plumber III Lead

University of Central Oklahoma is seeking a skilled Plumber III Lead to join our team. As a key member of our Physical Plant, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Plumbing Shop, ensuring the highest level of service and quality in all plumbing-related tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Supervisor of Plumbing in establishing priorities, planning, and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Plumbing Shop.
  • Perform skilled work in plumbing, including assembling, installing, and repairing plumbing fixtures and equipment, in accordance with plumbing codes.
  • Cut openings into walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, and assemble and install controls, including meters, valves, regulators, safety devices, and other components necessary to properly control liquid and gas systems.
  • Open clogged drains using a plumber's snake or vacuum plunger, and install valves, pipe fittings, and manufactured pipes.
  • Maintain water features by cleaning them and replenishing chemicals, and perform line locates and analyze blueprints.
  • Operate essential equipment, such as a jet sewer machine, backhoe, trencher, and boat, and occasionally weld using various welding tools.
  • Be available to help with facilities emergencies, which may require occasional call-outs or pre-arranged shift changes.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary to support the UCO mission.
Requirements:
  • General education or vocational training and 5 years' relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A valid driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to operate a typical motor vehicle.
  • Five years' experience working in the plumbing trade, a valid Oklahoma Driver License (CDL), and other licenses as may be required for equipment to be operated.
  • Supervisory experience and an Oklahoma Journeyman Plumber's License.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly and 75 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry 200 feet.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry up/down 30 stairs.
  • Ability to walk regularly for long periods of time across the campus.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to use and reach with hands and arms regularly.
  • Ability to climb in high places using a ladder or balance frequently.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and crawl occasionally.
  • Ability to push or pull a dolly loaded with up to 120 pounds for 300 feet occasionally.
  • Must have close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Pass a pulmonary function test.
