Job Summary: Concorde Education is seeking a skilled Scratch Instructor to join our team of educators. As a Scratch Instructor, you will be responsible for planning and facilitating collaborative coding instructional sessions using a variety of block coding languages, robotics, tools, and applications.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Educational Development: Meet regularly with the Director to discuss instructional strategies and goals.
  • Plan and Facilitate Learning Sessions: Design and deliver engaging coding instructional sessions that cater to diverse student needs.
  • Support Student Development: Assist students in developing computer science and coding skills, promoting a growth mindset and encouraging critical thinking.
  • Communicate Effectively: Maintain consistent communication with the Director of Educational Development, ensuring seamless collaboration and progress updates.
  • Model Academic and Social Behaviors: Demonstrate professionalism, respect, and empathy in all interactions with students, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Perform Additional Duties: Take on other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Educational Development, contributing to the overall success of Concorde Education.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Coding Expertise: Possess in-depth knowledge of block coding languages, including Scratch and/or Blockly, and the ability to instruct students in these languages.
  • Robotics and Coding: Ability to instruct students on how to control robots using block coding languages, including Ozobot, Sphero, drones, and other devices.
  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data to drive future instructional decisions, ensuring continuous improvement and student success.
  • Independent Work: Demonstrate the ability to work independently, applying critical thinking skills and problem-solving to various situations.
  • Adaptability: Instruct students of varying skill and experience levels in multiple programs based on interest and ability.
  • Education and Experience: Possess a bachelor's degree, teaching and/or tutoring experience, and be fluent with Scratch or other block coding languages.
