As a Registered Nurse - PIV Coordinator at the San Jose Job Corp Center, you will play a vital role in the medical care and treatment of students. In the absence of the Health and Wellness Director, you may serve as acting Health and Wellness Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Conduct Health Evaluations: Perform cursory health evaluations of new students, including vital sign measurements, hearing and vision screenings, and urine testing.
- Phlebotomy and Specimen Collection: Conduct phlebotomy procedures and collect specimens as required by National Job Corps Protocol.
- Medication Administration: Administer medication, monitor, and follow up on students, reporting any adverse reactions to the Health and Wellness Director.
- Scheduling and Follow-up: Assist with scheduling and follow-up of medical appointments on center and community appointments.
- Chronic Care Management: Coordinate Chronic Care Management Plans for students with chronic illnesses.
- Disability Coordination: Serve as Co-Disability Coordinator, managing and providing medical accommodations to students.
- Applicant File Review: Assist the Health and Wellness Director with Applicant File Review.
- On-call Support: Provide on-call support as required.
- HEALS Committee: Support the Healthy Eating Active Lifestyles (HEALS) committee and activities.
- Staff Training: Attend required staff training sessions.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
- Qualifications: Minimum: High school graduate plus State RN license. Must have active, unrestricted licenses, and work within scope of their license.
- Preferred Qualifications: One year nursing experience, plus Job Corps experience desirable.
- Knowledge and Skills: Sound nursing techniques, ability to relate effectively to student population, excellent written and oral communication skills, good organizational skills, and ability to carry out instructions without constant supervision.
- Frequently: Standing, sitting, seeing, hearing, speaking.
- Occasionally: Walking, bending, stooping, squatting, flexibility.
- Seldom: Climbing, lifting 50 pounds, carrying, kneeling, pushing/pulling, running, driving.
- Equipment: Ability to operate office equipment.
- Work Alone: Occasionally works alone.
- Work With Others: 85% of time spent working and interacting with team and other departments.
- Reading and Writing: Ability to read and write at a college level.
