Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst to provide subject matter expertise to the USAFSAM Department of Aerospace Medicine. The successful candidate will work closely with the Aerospace Medicine Studies and Analysis Division to provide statistical analysis of existing data sets and create new datasets for analysis in SAS/EG.

Key Responsibilities
  • Statistical Analysis: Provide subject matter expertise to perform statistical analysis of the impact of conditions identified during accession to the Air Force on longer term outcomes of interest to the Air Force.
  • Data Analysis: Perform statistical analysis of existing data sets and create new datasets for analysis in SAS/EG.
  • Project Management: Scope and design projects, develop, monitor and report on timelines and milestones, and produce progress reports.
  • Data Stratification: Assist in the creation of useful stratification methods for the analysis of created data sets, based upon ICD codes or other criteria which may be deemed useful.
  • Statistical Modeling: Assist in the development of credible, theoretically driven statistical models exploring the relationship between variables identified in data sets within the AVHE environment outcomes of interest to the Air Force.
  • Validation and Verification: Perform under guidance validation and verification protocols, to ensure that the products of study are performing as expected, and assist in performing corrections, in the event of models failing to perform to standard.
  • Communication: Assist in the drafting of written communication for internal and external purposes.
  • Interdisciplinary Planning: Participate as an expert in health statistics in interdisciplinary planning and analysis.
  • Data Access: Acquire data access permissions necessary to perform stated tasks.
  • Data Management: Use Air Force medical records systems and standards in performance of job duties.
  • Data Collection: Use all relevant data repositories as part of work, or which are generated in pursuit of work.
  • Data Mapping: Collect data from various databases, pursuant to agreements with database owners.
  • Data Architecture: Establish the relationship of available data to existing data sets, map the data between data elements and code for these specific data elements, establish data storage architecture requirements, and create a comprehensive data dictionary.
  • Conference Support: Provide conference support assistance by active participation in professional conferences, preparation of posters and presentations, and publication of peer reviewed manuscripts, in order to support distribution of study product.
  • Briefings: Brief study findings at appropriate meetings or forums, as determined by the Government.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical automation support for all versions of MS Windows, Microsoft (MS) Office (e.g., MS Access, MS Excel, MS Publisher), MS SQL, and Adobe.
  • Data Administration: Provide data creation and administration in support of model development, analysis, and publication.
  • Documentation: Document products for the actual computer code used in order for government personnel to access these files for review, approval, or for generating copies as required. All requirements shall be prepared in accordance with USAFSAM programming standards and standard commercial practices inclusive of any/all procedures implanted as part of this task.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Assist in briefings and production of documents as appropriate to transfer knowledge of study products to customers in the (Air Force Recruiting Service (AFRS) and Air Force at large.
Qualifications

We are looking for a highly skilled professional with the following qualifications:

  • Possess a Ph.D. in one of the following fields - Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics, or Operations Research with a minimum of three years' experience in their field of expertise.
  • Current in Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training, to be able to access and process identified medical data.
  • Demonstrate advanced analytical skills in statistics and study design and execution.
  • Demonstrate expertise in descriptive statistics, as well as Statistical Analysis System/Enterprise Guide (SAS/SAS EG)
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with statistics in a healthcare or military environment.
  • Have a signed NDA in place based on the potential access to confidential, proprietary, and/or sensitive information. The NDA shall be provided to the Government Program Manager by start of performance.
