Outpatient Rehabilitation Specialist

We are looking for an Outpatient Rehabilitation Specialist to become a vital part of our team. This position focuses on providing care to the outpatient orthopedic patient population.
This full-time role will operate during weekdays with specific hours.
Purpose of the Position:
Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, this role involves delivering therapeutic services that encompass assessment, treatment, discharge planning, and patient education.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conduct and document thorough physical therapy assessments.
2. Create and document individualized patient care plans aimed at enhancing function and ensuring safety.
3. Monitor, assess, and record patient progress.
4. Engage in hospital rounds and participate in patient care discussions.
5. Provide education to patients and their caregivers regarding therapeutic methods, care procedures, and treatment plans.
6. Ensure all documentation and billing for services adhere to departmental standards.
7. Oversee and guide the activities of rehabilitation aides in accordance with their training and capabilities (including patient transfers, transport, preparation for treatment, specific treatment tasks, clerical responsibilities, and upkeep of the department).
8. Supervise selected physical therapy interventions carried out by physical therapist assistants.
9. Effectively utilize and manage rehabilitative equipment.
10. Assist in the development and execution of physical therapy training sessions for staff.
11. Mentor and orient newly assigned personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program.
Up to 2 years of full-time experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior clinical experience in rehabilitation, acute care, or trauma settings.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Understanding of policies, procedures, and practice standards; physical therapy principles, techniques, and treatments; orthopedic equipment; counseling and educational methods; bandaging and wrapping techniques.
- Proficient in executing professional physical therapy techniques and treatments; capable of calibrating and operating physical therapy and orthopedic devices.
- Ability to provide guidance to ancillary staff.
- Skilled in counseling and instructing patients and families; capable of recognizing and documenting patient progress.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other healthcare team members.
- Competent in interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including managing differing attitudes and behaviors.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting written instructions, patient records, and physician notes.
- Capable of interpreting policies and procedures in an advisory role (educational capacity).
License/Certifications:
Possession of a valid Physical Therapy license, or a temporary license, issued by the relevant state board.
