Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Custodian to join our facilities team at Berkeley City College. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness throughout the campus, including classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas.
  • Clean and sanitize floors, walls, and surfaces using various cleaning materials and equipment.
  • Vacuum, mop, and polish floors to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Operate cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, mops, and scrubbers, safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of events and meetings, including arranging furniture and equipment.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Report any safety hazards or concerns to management.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience in custodial or janitorial work.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Valid tuberculosis clearance and fingerprinting required.
