Neurology Physician Assistant

The Neurology Physician Assistant plays a vital role in providing specialized patient care and guidance to neurosurgical patients and their families. This position requires a high level of expertise and a strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct patient care to inpatients in the hospital, including obtaining history and physical, pre-and post-operative management, ordering and following up on laboratory and radiology studies, and telephone triage of patient phone calls.
- Attend M&M and QA conferences as required.
- At least one (1) year of recent PA experience in neurosurgery, critical care, neurocritical care, or neurology.
- California Licensed Physicians Assistant (PA)
- National certification as a Physician Assistant
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program, Master's degree
- DEA certificate within three months of hire
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Emergency Neurological Life Support (ENLS) within three (3) months of hire
- Demonstrated ability for positive interaction with medical/nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Able to meet PA competencies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Judgment skills to effectively meet the needs of patients.
- Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role.
- Ability to apply relevant theories and concepts to clinical practice.
- Ability to cope with personal stress experienced by team members, other professionals, and caretakers.
- Able to lift 25 pounds, see well enough to read gauges and identify injuries.
- Recent experience in neurocritical care.
- The Department of Neurological Surgery is a clinical specialty unit in the School of Medicine that provides direct patient care, training, and graduate medical education, and basic and applied medical research programs. It serves as a referral center for neurosurgical patients in northern California.
