We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Roadway and Bridge Transportation Engineer to join our team at CDM Smith. As a key member of our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group, you will play a critical role in assisting federal, public, private, and international organizations with construction services for transportation systems that meet community needs.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise construction inspection activities at various transportation infrastructure construction projects, including roadway, bridge, drainage, erosion & control, and maintenance and traffic field site locations.
- Maintain relationships with clients and contractors to ensure construction activities are on schedule and meeting contract requirements.
- Estimate manpower needs, schedule, and assign work to meet completion date deadlines set by clients.
- Supervise the work of field inspection staff.
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct large and important construction projects, or a construction project of major scope and complexity.
- Participate in new business development and maintain existing client relationships.
- Act as a mentor for junior-level employees.
- Assist in developing and implementing new strategies to enhance our CEI capabilities.
- Keep abreast of new methods and developments affecting CDM Smith and recommend changes to current programs or implement new programs warranted by new developments.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
- Professional engineering (PE) license.
- 10 years of related experience.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
- Expert knowledge of construction management / construction engineering & inspection techniques, software, and practices.
- Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, specifications, and requirements.
