Job Title: Operations and Maintenance Supervisor at NJ Transit

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and assess the operational guidelines and procedures of the contractor, ensuring alignment with industry 'best practices'.
  • Scrutinize Daily Reports to guarantee accurate documentation of incidents, unusual events, or accidents.
  • Ensure contractor adherence to 'best practices' and contractual obligations with various governmental bodies.
  • Collaborate with the contractor on plan assessments, permit issuance, Temporary Access Permits, and compliance with third-party regulations.
  • Oversee O&M compliance in rolling stock, fixed asset upkeep, track, signaling, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Work together with the contractor on planning and designing system enhancements to mitigate negative service impacts.
  • Monitor the Capital Asset Replacement Program and contribute to Capital Budget Preparation and variance analysis.
  • Assume the responsibilities of NJ TRANSIT Superintendent as necessary.

Supervision: N/A

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Transportation, Industrial Management, or Business Administration is preferred.
  • Three years of relevant experience in commuter rail transportation, vehicle maintenance, or infrastructure upkeep can replace each year of education.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in contract negotiation preferred.
  • Familiarity with FTA regulations and NJDOT State Safety Oversight Standards is desirable.

Work Environment:

  • Combination of office and field settings.

Physical Requirements:

  • Involves sitting, standing, walking, climbing, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
