Aircraft Interior Installation Technician Senior Job Description

Job Summary:

The Interior Installation Technician Senior is responsible for the removal, installation, and/or fabrication of aircraft interiors, including trim, carpet, soundproofing, light structure, cabinetry, panels, and other accessories. This role requires a high level of expertise and attention to detail to ensure compliance with company design specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Aircraft Interior Removal and Installation: Safely perform aircraft interior removal, installation, and/or fabrication of aircraft interiors, including galleys, closets, lavatories, side ledges, bulkheads, doors, and panels.
  2. Quality Control and Compliance: Coordinate with supervision and inspection to ensure compliance with Repair Station procedures, internal and FAA paperwork, sign-offs, and quality specifications.
  3. Mentorship and Training: Mentor and train other Interior Installation Technicians, reviewing their work prior to sign-off to ensure compliance with quality control standards.
  4. Lead Responsibilities: Accept lead responsibilities as required, overseeing projects or other technicians and assessing requirements of assigned tasks to procure required materials and documentation.
  5. Material Tracking and Utilization: Utilize the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign-off work.
  6. Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Follow standard operating procedures when using tools and equipment, properly caring for and maintaining shop equipment and tools.
  7. Aircraft Interior Preparation and Installation: Prepare and install aircraft interior items in accordance with company operation procedures and quality standards.
  8. Fastener Removal and Reinstallation: Remove and re-install nut plates, inserts, and other fasteners used in aircraft interiors, applying proper use of hardware and fittings on aircraft installations.
  9. Safety and Housekeeping: Comply with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies, using personal protective equipment as required, and addressing unsafe conditions before putting people or property at risk.
  10. Additional Responsibilities: Assist technicians with aircraft maintenance requirements, adapt to sudden schedule changes, and coordinate projects with other shops/departments as required.

Requirements:

  1. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required, 4 years of applicable installation, fabrication, or related experience, with experience in the aerospace industry preferred.
  2. Skills and Abilities: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation, use hand/power tools and equipment associated with installation and removal of interiors, climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.
  3. Communication and Teamwork: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  4. Additional Requirements: Must be computer literate, fluent in English, and able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
