Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the upkeep and functionality of electrical systems including power, lighting, security, access control, video surveillance, telecommunication, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), and other electronic systems within the jurisdiction of Cumberland County Government. This role requires a commitment of 40 hours per week and includes a comprehensive benefits package. Electricians in this position will be required to be available for on-call duties during evenings and weekends on a rotating schedule. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience, with a salary range of $ /hr. A sign-on bonus of $2,000 will be provided to the selected candidate. It is essential that applicants possess authorization to work for any employer in the U.S., as sponsorship for employment visas is not available at this time.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license from the State of Maine.
  • Current Maine Journeyman license.
  • Preferred minimum of five years of experience post-licensure.
  • Familiarity with IEEE standards, fire alarm systems, telecommunication systems, and computer networking.
  • Combination of relevant experience and education will be considered.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and troubleshoot power, communication, access control, fire alarm, and data infrastructure systems in county facilities.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on electrical equipment and assist with system upgrades as necessary.
  • Establish and nurture professional relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Make authorized purchases for necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Document all maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Engage in related duties as assigned.
  • Participate in the electrical on-call rotation.
  • Enhance professional knowledge through workshops, networking, and participation in professional organizations while maintaining a valid State of Maine Master or Journeyman Electrician license.
  • Contribute to team objectives by achieving related results as required.
  • Adhere to the county's safety and health policies by attending mandatory safety training and reporting any incidents or safety concerns to a supervisor.
  • Engage actively in training sessions and county task forces, fulfilling additional responsibilities as assigned.
