**Job Summary**

The Commodity Trader is a key role within our organization, responsible for buying and selling scrap metal commodities based on market predictions. This position requires a deep understanding of the latest market trends and the ability to accurately assess the value of different types of metal. The successful candidate will work closely with our Commercial Sales Manager to achieve advantageous outcomes in the purchasing and selling of commodities.

**Key Responsibilities:**

• Track domestic and international markets to support purchasing and selling decisions
• Collaborate with internal trading teams to produce competitive pricing for clients
• Accurately identify and inspect various types of metals, including copper, aluminum, brass, stainless steel, and iron
• Purchase ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal from external sources, such as scrap yards, to sell directly to clients
• Investigate new potential sources of consumers of scrap metal
• Build relationships with clients and understand their specific needs and requirements
• Develop business activities and profit with assigned accounts
• Maximize opportunities in closing deals, resulting in market share gains from competitors
• Provide solutions to companies to improve and maximize scrap recovery
• Meet or exceed buying/sourcing quotas
• Process requests for price quotations, purchase orders, order changes, adjustments, and cancellations with vendors and manufacturers
• Negotiate with suppliers on price, payment, and shipment terms and contracts to optimize cost-effectiveness
• Maintain frequent communications with suppliers for updated lead time and inventory information for proper planning
• Keep accurate records of relevant activities

**Requirements:**

• Strong knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals
• Excellent sales skills and ability to develop long-term customer relationships
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, telephone etiquette, and computer knowledge
• Ability to maintain knowledge of market factors that impact scrap metal price movements
• Strong negotiation skills with customers and carriers
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
• Self-motivated and resourceful
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
• Willing to work different shifts and travel up to 50% of the time
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
