As a Counselor-Finance at Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation, you will play a critical role in ensuring the hospital collects patient deductibles and co-pays in a timely and accurate manner. You will serve as a resource to patients, families, and employees to discuss financial arrangements and explain patient financial obligations.
Responsibilities- Collect deductibles and co-pays from patients, families, and hospital staff, while setting up payment plans and evaluating bad debt.
- Assist patients with the application process for Charity Care.
- Explain insurance benefits to patients, families, hospital staff, and representatives from outside agencies, ensuring they understand how their benefits pertain to services provided at the facility.
- Maintain awareness of regulatory requirements and guidelines from specific insurance companies, ensuring compliance through communication and documentation to appropriate staff.
- Register patients accurately, efficiently, and professionally to ensure data base integrity and facilitate claims processing.
- Provide prompt and courteous service to expedite patient flow.
- Meet assigned annual goals.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional with a strong background in business and healthcare. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred: Associate's degree or 2 years of college-level courses.
- Minimum: Skill in communicating clearly and effectively using standard English in written, oral, and verbal format to achieve high productivity and efficiency.
- Preferred: 5 years of business experience in a healthcare environment, with front-end collections experience desired.
- Minimum: 3 years of business-related office experience, with 1 year of healthcare-related experience.
