Department Overview

Key Responsibilities
The Department of Psychology is seeking candidates for a pool of lecturers to instruct courses as needed during the academic year. We are looking for educators with proven or potential teaching proficiency. Lecturers will collaborate with the Department Chair to ensure that their instructional methods and materials align with university and departmental standards, which includes holding office hours and engaging in performance evaluations.
The availability of positions fluctuates each semester based on departmental needs and funding. The academic calendar includes a fall semester and a spring semester.
Openings will primarily be for undergraduate courses, although opportunities for graduate-level instruction may arise. The department offers a diverse range of courses, detailed in our course catalog. Instructional needs vary, but common areas of demand include:
- Writing Workshop (PSYC 100W)
- Statistics (STAT 95 and STAT 115)
- Research Methods (PSYC 18, 117, 118, 121A-E)
- Addressing the diverse needs of a varied student population through inclusive teaching materials and strategies.
- Utilizing the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) for all course organization.
- Ensuring classes are conducted as scheduled throughout the semester in the assigned format (asynchronous, synchronous, hybrid, etc.).
Required Qualifications
- A master's or doctoral degree in Psychology or a closely related field.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the relevant subject matter.
- Capability to instruct and assess post-secondary students.
- Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to the educational objectives of a multicultural student body.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related discipline for teaching graduate courses.
- Evidence of teaching excellence at a two- or four-year institution.
Compensation
Salary and compensation are determined based on qualifications and experience. For more details on salary placement, refer to University Policy S21-2.
Anticipated starting salary ranges are as follows:
L-A / Range 2 - $5007 - $5675
L-B / Range 3 - $5925 - $7125
L-C / Range 4 - $6500 - $8982
L-D / Range 5 - $8184 - $9854
These figures represent the expected monthly salary for full-time academic year faculty, with part-time rates adjusted accordingly. There are six monthly payments per semester.
