Job Overview

Reporting to the designated Operations Supervisor, the role involves executing a variety of teller functions efficiently and accurately for bank clients and prospective clients.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Welcome all clients and assist them in completing necessary banking transactions promptly and courteously.
  2. Process check cashing and disburse funds after confirming the accuracy of signatures, matching written and numerical amounts, and ensuring sufficient account balances.
  3. Review checks for endorsements and verify essential details such as dates, bank names, identification of payees, and the legality of documents.
  4. Address customer transactions that deviate from bank policies or exceed teller authority through appropriate channels.
  5. Respond to inquiries regarding customer accounts.
  6. Identify and pursue opportunities for selling and cross-selling bank products to customers and potential clients.
  7. Support colleagues during busy periods.
  8. Assist clients both via phone and in-branch with balance inquiries, account questions, and fund transfers. Aid loan clients with information regarding loans, payments due, and credit line balances.
  9. Reconcile various bank reports on a weekly or monthly basis as required.
  10. Promote and sell products or services such as traveler's checks, savings bonds, money orders, and cashier's checks, utilizing computerized customer information to tailor recommendations.
  11. Perform clerical duties including typing and filing.
  12. Execute the responsibilities of a Paying and Receiving Teller, which encompass:
  • Preparing the teller workstation by completing balancing sheets, counting cash in the drawer, and logging into the computer.
  • Accepting and processing deposits and withdrawals.
  • Issuing cashier's checks and money orders.
  • Handling commercial deposits and requests for change.
  • Cashing checks for banking clients and/or checks issued to our customers.
  • Balancing cash assigned to the teller station daily and completing end-of-day transactions.
It is anticipated that the incumbent will undertake additional duties as assigned within their capabilities as determined by management.

Qualifications

A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Proficiency in Windows-based software, ability to operate a personal computer, and 10-key touch typing skills are essential. Previous experience in cash handling within a customer service context is preferred. Familiarity with principles and processes for delivering customer and personal services, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction is advantageous. Knowledge of sales principles and methods for promoting products or services is also preferred.
