Job Summary:

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for overseeing the quality of our construction projects, ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with the project specifications and industry standards. This includes coordinating with subcontractors, surveyors, and other stakeholders to ensure that all work is completed to the highest level of quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze daily schedules and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure that work is completed on time and to the required quality standards.
  • Coordinate with surveyors to verify hold points and ensure that all work is completed accurately.
  • Manage time effectively to monitor work and ensure that all quality control measures are in place.
  • Inspect daily activities to ensure that all work is completed to the required quality standards.
  • Look for and address potential design flaws and issue RFIs as needed.
  • Fill out daily inspection reports and check QC forms to ensure that all work is completed to the required quality standards.
  • Schedule daily tests and communicate with labs to ensure that all testing is completed accurately.
  • Monitor lab technicians to ensure that testing is being done properly and take corrective action if necessary.
  • Monitor aggregate materials being delivered to ensure consistency and request lab testing as needed.
  • Accept or reject concrete material based on specifications and visual observations.
  • Explore alternative construction methods to gain acceptance from TxDOT for marginal work.
  • Create and provide records related to quality systems to document control procedures.
  • Determine the disposition of all nonconformities and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coordinate between the construction team, QC lab, and QA team to ensure smooth progression of work.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience managing or responsible for quality assurance or quality control for highway, bridge/structures, paving, and/or utility relocation projects as a contractor.
  • Related experience and/or extensive knowledge of heavy highway projects.
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Proficient personal computer skills, including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
