The Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) is a vital member of our interdisciplinary treatment team, responsible for providing Recreational Therapy services to patients in a behavioral health hospital setting. This role requires a strong foundation in therapeutic recreation principles, with a focus on promoting positive behavioral changes and enhancing overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities- Assess patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans to promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth.
- Design and implement therapeutic activity interventions, including individual and group sessions, to address specific patient needs.
- Educate patients on healthy coping skills and available leisure resources to support post-discharge planning and involvement.
- Evaluate patient progress and record results daily, providing valuable insights for treatment team conferences and progress summaries.
- Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited program.
- Certification by the National Certification Board (NCTRC) is required.
- Experience in a behavioral health hospital setting is preferred.
