Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in pediatric cardiac care for a travel/contract role. This position is ideal for those with a strong background in pediatric nursing, particularly in cardiac units.

Certification Requirements
  • ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is preferred for specific placements.
  • BLS: Basic Life Support certification is mandatory, AHA Healthcare Provider only.

Job Responsibilities

  • Proficiency with ventilators, multiple monitors, and EKG interpretation is required.
  • Potential for floating to various units, excluding OR, PACU, and ED, including PICU, NICU, medical, surgical, and behavioral units.
Unit Summary

The role involves providing post-operative care for cardiac surgeries, managing patients with complex congenital heart conditions, acquired heart diseases, and those undergoing heart transplantation.

Job Requirements
  • Current California RN License, either in hand or pending.
  • A minimum of 2 years of CVPICU/CTICU experience is required.
  • Must possess pediatric cardiac experience.
  • Experience with heart transplants is essential.
  • Willingness to float between units is necessary.
  • BLS and PALS certifications are mandatory.
Schedule Information
  • Shifts: 3x12 variable or straight night shifts, with 36x48 hours available.
  • Weekend Requirements: 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule.
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks.
  • Requested Time Off: 6 days total, while still completing 3 shifts in the week.
  • Availability to work holidays is required.
  • Self-scheduling options are available.
  • Patient Ratio: 1:1-2.
  • The unit accommodates 30-37 beds.
Unit Specific Information

The position is based in the CVPICU/CTICU units, catering to a diverse range of patients from neonatal to 23 years old, focusing on post-operative cardiac care and complex congenital conditions.
