Job Description

Magnet Medical is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team in Bakersfield, California. As an Occupational Therapist with Magnet Medical, you will play a crucial role in helping individuals overcome physical, mental, or developmental challenges that limit their ability to perform daily activities.

  • Dates: Starting January 2025 (13 weeks)
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts, days

Responsibilities:Assessment and Evaluation:

An Occupational Therapist's primary responsibility is to conduct initial assessments to understand patients' needs, strengths, limitations, and goals. This involves using standardized tests, interviews, and observations to evaluate physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities.

The therapist develops a comprehensive evaluation report, identifying areas of improvement, potential goals, and required interventions. This information is used to create personalized treatment plans based on assessment results.

Providing Therapeutic Interventions:

OTherapist implements individualized therapy programs to improve motor skills, cognitive function, sensory processing, and social interaction. They use various activities like exercises, therapeutic games, fine motor skills tasks, and adaptive strategies to enhance patients' independence.

The Occupational Therapist also works with patients on daily living activities such as dressing, bathing, cooking, and using adaptive equipment for mobility. They teach patients new ways to complete tasks and daily activities, including recommendations for ergonomic practices and assistive devices.

Patient Education and Support:

Ocuppational Therapists educate patients and their families about the rehabilitation process, techniques, and strategies for enhancing functional independence. They provide guidance on using adaptive equipment and tools, offer emotional support and encouragement throughout the recovery process.

Collaboration and Communication:

Occupational Therapists work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care. They participate in care planning meetings, share insights about patient progress and therapy requirements, and regularly communicate with families and caregivers.

Documentation and Reporting:

The Occupational Therapist maintains accurate records of patients' progress, therapy sessions, and any modifications made to treatment plans. They document and report patient progress in compliance with healthcare regulations.

Rehabilitation and Recovery:

Ocuppational therapists monitor and reassess patient progress regularly to ensure therapy goals are being met. They adjust treatment plans as necessary and help patients transition from therapy to independent living, ensuring they are prepared to manage daily tasks outside of a clinical environment.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Licensure and certifications remain up-to-date
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Estimated Salary Range: $70,000 - $100,000 annually, depending on experience.
