Job Title: Cardiology Nurse

We are seeking a skilled Cardiology Nurse to join our team at UofL Health - Mary & Elizabeth Hospital. As a Cardiology Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our cardiovascular team.

Our hospital offers a wide range of services, including vascular, orthopedic, cardiac, neurological, surgical, and rehabilitative care. Responsibilities

  • Perform stress test protocols as indicated by physician orders.
  • Insert IVs and administer medications as prescribed by physicians.
  • Screen patients for appropriate indications and contraindications prior to all exams.
  • Administer and interpret various types of treadmill and pharmaceutical testing.
  • Assess patient risk and prognosis in patients with symptoms, prior history of CAD, ECG abnormalities, severe comorbidities, or candidates for revascularization.
  • Exhibit knowledge of patient preparation and application of electrodes.
  • Record baseline and recurrent ECGs, blood pressure, and patient symptoms throughout the exam and during recovery.
  • Assist with echocardiogram bubble studies.
  • Perform EKGs and accurate interpretation of EKG results.
  • Knowledgeable on dysrhythmias.
  • Prepare clinical charts, complete health assessments, review medications and allergies, update patient history, and review systems.
  • Administer medications as prescribed by physicians.
  • Perform telephone triage.
  • Work as a resuscitative team member in emergency situations, including administration of IV medications.
  • Assist inpatient cardiology team with follow-up appointments and discharge planning.
  • Perform follow-up calls for discharged patients.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current KY RN licensure or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky.
  • Basic Life Saving (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) accredited by the American Heart Association (may be required for specific clinical areas).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (may be required for specific clinical areas).
