Key Responsibilities

Technology Development: Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to assess and implement new technologies and processes. Conduct evaluations and tests on innovative designs and materials.

Project Management: Oversee or assist with special projects as required.

Vendor Relations: Maintain partnerships with external suppliers to support both new and existing materials. Work closely with procurement to manage inventory levels and ensure compliance with specifications.

Field Operations Support: Provide assistance to field teams by inspecting equipment and materials to guarantee quality installations. Regularly engage with field crews to discuss standards and materials.

Supervision: Guide the work of contractors and interns as necessary to ensure project completion.

Industry Engagement: Participate in industry committees focused on materials, standards, and regulations.

Reporting: Regularly summarize and present project statuses.

Collaboration: Work alongside Engineering and Operations on various projects and maintenance tasks.

Standards Management: Conduct regular meetings with distribution, substation, and transmission teams to uphold standards documentation and engineering drawings.

Material Compatibility: Assist Operations with requests related to material compatibility for projects. Support field operations during site assessments and seek opportunities for process improvements.

Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant internal and external codes and standards, including the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and National Electric Code (NEC).

Storm Restoration Support: Participate in restoration efforts as needed.

Travel Requirements: Some travel may be necessary (less than 10%).

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

Engineer II: A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited institution and two years of utility design experience, including electric data analysis and technical standards application.

Engineer III: A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited institution and five or more years of utility design experience, including electric data analysis and technical standards application. A valid Professional Engineering License is required.

Engineer IV: A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited institution and ten or more years of utility engineering or related experience. A valid Professional Engineering License is required.
