Key Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the coordination of nursing care, which includes direct patient care, education for patients and families, and managing transitions of care.
The RN promotes professional nursing practices across various settings and throughout the continuum of care to address the needs of patients and their families.
Within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, the RN is accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all aspects of nursing care for assigned patients.
Professional Standards
The ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice serve as the foundation for RN practice. The RN demonstrates leadership through roles such as preceptor, informal leadership, and quality improvement initiatives. The RN delegates patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, resource availability, and fiscal responsibility. Excellent communication skills, mentoring abilities, and participation in committees or projects are essential.
A subset of employees may need to use their personal vehicle as part of their job responsibilities.
This position is eligible for TN sponsorship, which requires state licensure and completion of the Visa Screen or equivalent certification.Compensation and Benefits

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses must provide documented evidence of completing a baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited program within five years of their RN start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
3-5 years of RN experience within the last five years is preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Experience in a collaborative team environment is necessary. Proficiency in computer skills is required, with prior experience in electronic medical record systems preferred. Flexibility to work various hours, including days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call shifts is expected. The ability to adapt to unpredictable situations in the workplace is crucial. Demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and strong critical thinking skills are highly valued.
Licensure or Certification:
Current RN license as per state regulations. For specific states, maintaining Basic Life Support (BLS) competency and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is required.
Additional specialty certifications or training may be required based on the work area.
