Summary/Objective

The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant acts as a supportive role to a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, executing the established care plans for clients under the oversight of the SLP.

Screenings & Assessments

  • Assist with screenings related to speech, language, and hearing without clinical interpretation of the outcomes.
  • Support during client assessments, excluding administration or interpretation tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement treatment activities that are routine and do not necessitate professional judgment, adhering to the care plan developed by the SLP and directed by the supervising SLP who maintains professional accountability for the client.
  • Document each client's progress and relay information to the supervising SLP.
  • Assist in programming augmentative and alternative communication devices and support clients in their repetitive use.
  • Draft and sign treatment notes for submission to the supervising SLP for approval and co-signing.
  • Upon request, co-sign additional documents with the supervising SLP.
  • Prepare necessary materials.
  • Coordinate appointments and activities.
  • Organize charts, records, or graphs.
  • Assist clients in transitioning to and from therapy sessions.
  • Maintain an updated caseload in the EMR system.
  • Enter charges within 24 hours of service.
  • Assist with Letters of Medical Necessity.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks not otherwise restricted to the practice of speech-language pathology.
  • Engage in projects related to therapy or aligned with the company's vision.

Work Environment

This position operates within a professional office setting. A clinical staff dress code is mandated, which includes a turquoise or magenta top paired with black pants.

Expected Work Hours

This role may be filled by full-time employees, part-time employees, or 1099 Contractors. Flexibility in hours is permitted. Depending on the caseload, clinical staff may have varying start and end times, determined in collaboration with the Client Services Manager.

Travel Requirements

This role may necessitate frequent, potentially daily, travel to various treatment locations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree, preferably in communication sciences.
  • Documented training by a licensed SLP in relevant topics for the client population served; or
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office programs, internet, email, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong organizational abilities
  • CPR Certification
  • Familiarity with HIPAA and OSHA regulations
  • Experience with electronic medical records

Reporting Structure

The Assistant Speech-Language Pathologist reports directly to the Clinical Supervisor and Client Services Manager of Speech & Occupational Therapy Specialists, while working under the guidance and supervision of their assigned licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
