About the Role

The Assistant Director of Nursing will play a vital role in leading and overseeing all aspects of clinical operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to residents in compliance with regulations and organizational goals. This position requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director of Nursing in defining and maintaining standards of nursing practice within the community
  • Oversee provision of appropriate medications, treatments, and general nursing services according to resident care plans and physician-directed orders
  • Develop and maintain in-service education programs for nursing staff
  • Conduct daily rounds to monitor delivery of nursing care
  • Participate in planning, policy formation, and administrative decision-making
  • Assess residents and potential residents for appropriate levels of care
  • Manage and coordinate work of nursing and care staff, communicate pertinent resident health and safety information
  • Supervise and monitor medications for self-administering residents
  • Assess and complete overall nursing day-to-day duties on scheduled floor nurse shifts
  • Assist with oversight of pharmacy and community relationships, including timely medication delivery and eMAR accuracy
  • Provide interim documentation as required to resident files, attend scheduled interdisciplinary resident care meetings
  • Understand responsibilities associated with clinical roles, demonstrate ability to effectively carry them out
  • Interview, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and retain high-performing resident care teams
  • Promote physical, personal, and emotional wellbeing of each resident, striving to return them to maximum level of self-care and independence
  • Understand residents' Advance Directives, follow their wishes

Requirements:

  • Graduation from accredited nursing school, current state license for LPN or RN at all times, 3+ years of nursing experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of best person-directed care practices for seniors, including those with dementia, preferred
  • Current CPR certification at all times
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proven experience in staffing, leading, developing, and retaining strong resident care teams
  • Ability to oversee quality care and services delivery in compliance with regulations and resident assessments
  • Knowledge of state regulations regarding senior living care, solid understanding of opportunities and limits of other levels of care within senior living
  • Professional demeanor, ability to perform conflict intervention and resolution for residents, families, employees, and others as needed
  • Ability to work well with others, take direction from management, initiative to go above and beyond to ensure residents' needs are met
  • Self-motivated, accountability for results, proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office, EHR systems like ECP
