Job Title: Principal Engineer

We are seeking a Principal Engineer who can also serve as our Project Manager to join our Land Development team on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Raleigh, NC.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare civil/site engineering designs and plans for jurisdictional approval and permitting.
  • Work with Design staff, Engineers, and other Project Managers to complete projects.
  • Complete tasks and assignments as directed by other Project Managers, within timeframes and budgetary constraints.
  • Apply knowledge of design standards to develop effective engineering solutions.
  • Document solutions in an organized manner and accurately describe them to other Project Managers and the Design team.
  • Ensure effective project development by setting budgetary constraints, filing project data, meeting design criteria and client requirements, and assuring work has been completed and reviewed by competent personnel and a thorough QA/QC process prior to delivery to the client.
  • Lead meetings with clients and provide updates on project status.
  • Contribute to Business Development efforts by identifying and securing new clients.
  • Serve as a Mentor for less-experienced staff members.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Civil, Construction, Environmental, or a similar technical discipline).
  • PE credential.
  • 12+ years of professional experience working in Engineering (preferably with design, construction, and/or land development projects).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven leadership skills; Management and/or Project Management experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with residential and commercial development projects.
  • Proven expertise with Water Resources engineering, including stormwater management design and permitting.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g. CADD, project management software, etc.).
  • Experience with building and/or maintaining client relationships; Business Development experience is a plus.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with minimal supervision while displaying a positive attitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills, especially with a proven ability to work in an energetic and challenging work environment on a variety of projects.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
