Position Overview:
As a Lead Critical Care Nurse, you will deliver direct nursing care in alignment with established protocols and policies of the healthcare organization.
- Develop and oversee patient care plans.
- Act as the primary coordinator for all healthcare disciplines to ensure seamless patient care.
- Execute and document physician and nursing directives.
- Evaluate and coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
- Registered Nurse credential from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing required prior to employment or transfer.
- Valid licensure from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing or current home state license if applicable.
- Diploma from an accredited nursing school or equivalent professional licensure required at the time of hire.
Unit Description:
The Neuro Intensive Care Unit is a 12-bed facility that serves as the designated tertiary care center for the Ascension Wisconsin South region. Our patient demographic includes both medical and surgical neurological cases, such as strokes, craniotomies, embolizations, and TPA patients.

Team Collaboration:
We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality care through daily shift huddles and collaborative multidisciplinary patient rounds.
- Our team includes Intensivists, RNs, Respiratory Therapists, Case Managers, Social Workers, Occupational and Physical Therapists, Speech Therapists, Pharmacists, Chaplain services, Clinical Nurse Specialists, NeuroInterventionalists, and Neurosurgeons.
- The Neuro ICU operates within a Catholic non-profit health system focused on patient-centered care and positive outcomes.
