Position Details

Job Responsibilities
The Surgical Specialty RN is tasked with delivering both surgical and non-surgical patient care, utilizing the full spectrum of the nursing process.
This includes collaborating with care coordinators, healthcare providers, residents, surgical technicians, and nurse managers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
The RN systematically evaluates the health status of patients and documents relevant health information according to institutional policies, providing pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care.
Education is a vital component of this role, as the RN instructs patients, families, and caregivers on various health topics.
Additional duties may include post-operative care, wound management, and other nursing interventions as permitted by regulatory authorities.
The Surgical Specialty RN is also responsible for maintaining competency in the setup and breakdown of minor procedures and may be required to float to other surgical areas as necessary.
In this role, the RN will enter orders for laboratory tests, supplies, and prosthetic items as per nursing protocols.
Daily responsibilities include initial triage of walk-in patients requiring urgent or post-operative care, determining the need for further provider intervention to enhance same-day access.
The RN administers medications and treatments according to established policies, monitoring for changes in patient conditions and reporting any significant alterations promptly.
Additionally, the RN must demonstrate the ability to recognize urgent care situations and implement appropriate interventions.
Effective communication is essential, as the RN is expected to complete phone calls and secure messages within a specified timeframe, ensuring the clinic operates efficiently and that team members are well-informed to meet patient needs.
Qualifications
- Must possess a valid and unrestricted nursing license from any U.S. state or territory.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required.
- Graduates from accredited nursing programs are preferred.
