Job Overview:
At Medstar Health Vascular Institute, our team of dedicated professionals specializes in comprehensive cardiovascular services, from preventative care to advanced interventional procedures. We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Clinical Data Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team and support quality improvement initiatives, analyze cardiovascular outcomes data, and partner with multidisciplinary staff to implement evidence-based practices.
Schedule:
Full Time Days, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 7:30a-4p

Education and Experience:
Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in nursing, clinical research, or another relevant field, and at least 2 years of cardiovascular anatomy and procedure-centric knowledge. Strong preference for 5-7 years of related experience, including quality or process improvement, and 5-7 years of experience in the healthcare field, particularly in a hospital and cardiovascular or cardiac surgery unit setting. Familiarity with Cerner and Excel is also preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
A valid RN License in the State of Maryland is required. Responsibilities include abstracting clinical and administrative data from patient records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining knowledge of abstraction rules to ensure accurate and timely data entry into the repository. Collaboration with medical teams for data validation is also essential, as well as screening medical records for complications related to mortality and morbidity, assisting in data abstraction for quality control projects, and designing data collection strategies.
Estimated Salary:
$104,454 per year, based on national averages for a Clinical Data Registered Nurse in the Baltimore area.
Job Responsibilities:
Identify trends for clinical performance improvement, prepare and present data to support performance improvement initiatives, and generate and review reports for accuracy. Participate in quality improvement efforts, leveraging expertise in data abstraction and documentation, and troubleshoot database software issues as needed.
