Job Responsibilities- Provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced PCU - Ortho Neuro Surgical (ONS) 48's environment
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the healthcare team
- Assist with patient transfers and mobility as needed
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on the latest medical procedures and technologies
- Current RN licensure in the state of practice
- 1 year of experience in a PCU - Ortho Neuro Surgical (ONS) 48's environment
- Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing
- Previous experience with patients with IMC/stepdown acuity and Neuro
- Skills in reading/interpreting cardiac strips, chest tubes, trach care, NGT tube placement and management, JP drains, line management, wound care/dressing changes, medication administration, TPN/tube feeding, blood product transfusions, urinary and fecal collection devices
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- NIHSS certification
- Post neuro-intervention experience preferred
- Epic experience strongly preferred
- 64-bed unit with 2 floors
- Mixed acuity unit with Intermediate Care, Tele, and MedSurg patients
- Surgical patients: Urology, prostatectomy, bowel obstruction, mass removal, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, general abdominal surgeries
- Ortho patients: Total joints (knees/hips/shoulders), Ortho Trauma - External fixation, soft tissue injury and minor fractures
- Neuro/Spine patients: CVA/TIA with Neuro Vascular Intervention - coiling, clipping, potentially thrombectomy, seizures/Epilepsy, brain tumor, hematoma, brain aneurysm, arteriovenous malformation, AV Fistula, craniotomies with burr holes and/or shunts, Halos, Flaps
- General Medical patients: cellulitis, influenza, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, renal failure with or without the need for hemodialysis, hepatic failure, rib fracture, gastrointestinal disorders and infections, DVTs, UTIs
