Project Architect II

Estimated Salary: $110,000 - $140,000 per year

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Architect II to join our Simsbury, CT office. As a technical lead, you will be responsible for overseeing specific technical design aspects of assigned major projects, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions.

You will provide professional architectural consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large, complex projects, applying advanced architectural concepts and designs. You will carry out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures, providing technical guidance to less experienced architects/architectural staff when needed.

• Perform technical and feasibility studies, analyzing and interpreting historical data, surveys, reports, and as-builts to create innovative architectural design projects.
• Demonstrate knowledge of applicable industry, accessibility, and building codes and standards, interpreting and applying these throughout the design and construction process.
• Review designs, tests, and assess materials, performing/reviewing calculations.
• Plan and coordinate required permitting and approvals documentation supporting your designs.
• Develop Front-End documents for project specifications.
• Conduct site surveys to obtain existing conditions, develop existing conditions drawings, and identify code, ADA, and Life Safety deficiencies in existing construction.
• Evaluate existing construction for deficiencies in materials and assemblies impacting future work.
• Adhere to corporate quality control standards within the discipline, checking own work for accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.
• Oversee construction administration, including conducting construction meetings, responding to contractor RFIs, developing ASIs, reviewing payment applications, and construction close-out activities.
• Conduct site inspections throughout construction, documenting site conditions and construction activities, coordinating with Agency Owner and contractor staff, and correctly identifying design and construction risks.
• Manage a small team of design staff when requested or assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by a Project Manager or senior team members.

• A professional degree in architecture from an accredited institution.
• Licensure preferred.
• 5 or more years of experience.
• Experience with municipal clients preferred.
• Highly proficient in REVIT, AutoCad Architecture version 2022, with the ability to annotate plans and details.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and Procore (if used by the Contractor).
• May also have 3D Rendering Software capabilities.
• Maintain existing architectural licensure through completion of LUs as required.
• Actively seeking LEED accreditation and obtain membership/participation in industry-focused events.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English for job-related communications and interactions.
