Job Summary

We are seeking an EHS Specialist to join our team at PGT Innovations. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering facility Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Programs in accordance with regulatory requirements and corporate policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers' health or safety.
  • Assist operations and management in reviewing incidents to determine root causes and corrective actions.
  • Recommend measures to protect workers from hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
  • Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
  • Accountable for the safety of team members through active engagement in safety activities and clear communication of safe work expectations.
  • Act as an internal resource on regulatory and safety policy issues and help develop processes for compliance.
  • Conduct safety training or education programs and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.
  • Work with engineering to design and install new or altered equipment or processes to eliminate or reduce health/safety hazards and environmental impact.
  • Assist in compliance reviews, risk assessments, audits, and inspections to support EHS objectives.
  • Provide new-employee health and safety orientations and develop materials for these presentations.
  • Perform EHS inspections and assessments, including IH, PPE, LOTO, and machine guarding.
  • Coordinate right-to-know programs regarding hazardous chemicals or other substances.
  • Participate in periodic hands-on safety audits of manufacturing work areas with plant operations leaders and assist in resolving identified issues.
  • Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, or first-aid supplies.
  • Advise on elimination, substitution, engineering, administrative, or PPE controls to eliminate hazards and reduce exposures.
  • Promote, guide, and champion various safety committees and serve as the Safety Committee's Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Develop training materials pertaining to safety issues as required by operations due to new or changing Federal or State regulations.
  • Actively lead and drive Risk Assessment and Behavioral Safety programs to eliminate/reduce environmental, health and safety risks and meet identified facility targets.
  • Motivate and coach team members through good communication and frequent performance feedback on the production floor.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree with proficiency in EHS regulatory requirements.
  • GSP, CSHO, or OSHA 511 certification or higher.
