Job Summary

At Brockton Area Multi-Services, Inc., we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Counselor to join our team. As a Residential Counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental and physical disabilities in their daily lives. Your primary responsibility will be to provide personalized care and assistance to help individuals develop connections and meaningful relationships in their community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Help individuals identify and develop interests and hobbies, facilitating community relationships and friendships that align with their interests.
  • Empower individuals to advocate, make decisions, and become more independent in their homes and communities.
  • Assist individuals with personal care tasks, including toileting, showering/bathing, grooming, personal hygiene, and mobility assistance.
  • Support individuals in completing Activities of Daily Living (ADL) tasks, such as cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, shopping, and money management.
  • Use supportive and adaptive equipment as prescribed to ensure individuals' safety and well-being.
  • Assist in developing and implementing Individual Service Plans (ISPs), including behavioral plans and medication treatment plans.
  • Follow Department of Public Health's (DPH) Medication Administration Program (MAP) policies, including training requirements, medication administration, and documentation.
  • Utilize Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) practices to create a thoughtful and supportive environment that reflects individuals' preferences, needs, and goals.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals using their preferred method and language.
  • Assist with accessing community resources, including transportation, to help individuals participate in activities and events.

Requirements
  • Knowledge of theories, methods, procedures, and practices of working with individuals with developmental and physical disabilities.
  • Proficiency in English, both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to conduct, review, and interpret assessments and medical treatments.
  • Safe driving practices.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
