Position Overview

The Advanced CT Imaging Technologist plays a crucial role in executing CT imaging procedures through the application of ionizing radiation to generate high-quality diagnostic images under diverse circumstances. This position also involves collaboration with physicians to determine the most effective imaging techniques and technical parameters.

Reporting Structure

Reports directly to the Advanced Imaging Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality CT imaging and proactively identify when further imaging may be necessary.
  • Possess a solid understanding of cross-sectional anatomy.
  • Understand the functionalities of the imaging equipment and computer systems.
  • Recognize pathological conditions and provide the radiologist with precise measurements and density assessments.
  • Operate the dry laser printing equipment.
  • Prepare CT images for radiological interpretation.
  • Responsible for acquiring previous external examinations for comparison.
  • Knowledgeable about pressure injectors and dosage requirements.
  • Familiar with contrast materials and potential adverse reactions.
  • Gather comprehensive patient medical histories.
  • Maintain a log of all patient interactions.
  • Communicate all protocols and updates to fellow CT technologists as directed by radiologists.
  • Stay informed about current CT procedures to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Be adaptable to varied work schedules.
  • Maintain contrast reaction kits throughout the Radiology department.
  • Adhere to incident reporting policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all OSHA regulations and training requirements.
  • Provide exceptional customer service in alignment with the organization's service philosophy.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited A.C.R. program is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in CT imaging is necessary.
  • Must work primarily in a specialized setting (e.g., ASC, Ortho) and participate in weekend and holiday rotations.
Licensure and Certification
  • Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in both Radiography and CT is mandatory.
  • CPR certification per American Heart Association standards is required within the first month of employment.
  • Active accreditation in Radiography with the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety must be maintained.
Skills and Competencies
  • Exhibit professional conduct at all times.
  • Ability to adapt to various personalities and situations.
  • Maintain composure and exercise good judgment under pressure.
  • Proficient in venipuncture techniques.
  • Demonstrate manual dexterity for operating equipment and handling instruments.
  • Capable of performing physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, bending, lifting, and twisting.
  • Ability to work with arms elevated for extended periods.
  • Willingness to wear lead aprons for prolonged durations.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Assist patients in transferring to and from the CT unit.
Work Environment
  • Exposure to cleaning agents and chemicals from x-ray film processing may occur in limited areas.
  • Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other hazardous materials.
  • Occasional heavy lifting may be required.

Level 2: Tasks may require unplanned and unsupervised access to Protected Health Information in the normal course of employment or under special circumstances.
