We are currently seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors, ranging from Trainees to Level IV, to join our Construction Engineering Inspection team for highway projects across North Carolina.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in inspecting various roadway and structure construction activities while performing calculations under supervision.
- Conduct materials sampling and testing.
- Collect weigh tickets and execute roadway tests to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Monitor and perform inspections on both complex and routine highway projects.
- Maintain daily records of project activities and prepare monthly estimates.
- Measure completed work items and calculate contract pay quantities.
- Interpret plans and blueprints.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Proficient in mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, with the ability to apply formulas.
- Skilled in using iPad, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Dropbox, and/or OneDrive.
- Ability to work independently, exercising judgment and decision-making.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Capable of performing necessary testing and maintaining detailed reports.
- Effective communication with agency, contractor personnel, and the public.
- Ability to read and interpret roadway, bridge, and structure plans and specifications.
- Physical capability to navigate rough terrain and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Valid Driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Level II Technicians: Minimum four years of relevant experience, capable of performing duties independently.
- Level III Technicians: Minimum five years of relevant experience, capable of performing duties independently.
- Level IV Technicians: Minimum seven years of relevant experience, may serve as Lead Project Inspector overseeing projects and supervising lower-level technicians.
