Position Summary

The Physical Therapist (PT) at the Bone and Joint Rehabilitation Services (BJRS) is tasked with designing and implementing therapeutic interventions aimed at alleviating pain, restoring functionality, enhancing mobility, and preventing disabilities resulting from injuries or medical conditions. The PT is responsible for establishing diagnoses, prognoses, and creating individualized plans of care (POC) with both short-term and long-term patient-centered objectives that align with professional standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of patients' conditions and treatment plans.
  2. Develop and implement treatment strategies in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  3. Utilize therapeutic principles consistent with the standards set by the American Physical Therapy Association.
  4. Guide patients through various stages of treatment to optimize recovery outcomes.
  5. Facilitate discharge planning for patients, including education and home exercise program development.
  6. Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive therapy services.
  7. Support the training and development of new staff members.
  8. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
  9. Uphold a professional work environment that reflects cleanliness and safety.
  10. Provide mentorship to students and support staff.
  11. Engage in initiatives that enhance departmental effectiveness and communication.
  12. Manage caseloads and time efficiently.

Qualifications

Formal Education / Training:
Current licensure in the State of Tennessee is required. A Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy is mandatory; a Master's or Doctorate is preferred. Experience in outpatient or sports medicine physical therapy is advantageous.

Workplace Experience:
Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and positively within a healthcare setting.

Equipment and Skills Training:
Proficient in utilizing electronic medical records (EMR) systems and standard office equipment. Capable of providing detailed documentation for billing and patient care.

Physical Requirements

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal. The role requires prolonged standing and walking, as well as the physical capability to lift and transfer patients safely. Frequent movement of supplies and equipment, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., is necessary.
