Key Responsibilities
  • Escort patients and families to and from examination rooms, ensuring a comfortable and respectful experience.
  • Explain exams to patients and families prior to the commencement of the test, promoting cooperation and optimal results.
  • Acquire anatomical, pathological, and physiological data for interpretation by a physician, utilizing advanced ultrasound equipment.
  • Maintain accurate patient charts and records, as well as process sonographic data and observations for presentation to the interpreting physician.
  • Prepare preliminary reports for physician review and signature, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
  • Collaborate with physicians to review studies and provide expert analysis, contributing to informed decision-making.
  • Assist with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling, demonstrating a commitment to patient safety and well-being.
  • Code services performed accurately and efficiently, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure the proper operation of ultrasound equipment, recognizing and addressing any malfunctions or issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized examination environment, adhering to infection control protocols and safety standards.
  • Rotate as needed to cover Sonographer absences, demonstrating flexibility and a team-oriented approach.
  • Perform related duties as directed, contributing to the overall success of the department.
Requirements
  • Minimum six months of experience as an ultrasound technician in an OB/GYN and/or MFM setting, with a strong foundation in diagnostic imaging principles.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Skilled in operating advanced ultrasound equipment, with a strong understanding of imaging modalities and techniques.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a strong educational foundation in healthcare and diagnostic imaging.
  • Graduate of an accredited sonography program, with a degree in ultrasonography or a related field.
  • ARDMS OB/GYN certification or eligibility, with a commitment to ongoing professional development and certification maintenance.
  • Fetal echo certification or eligibility, with a strong understanding of fetal imaging principles and techniques.
  • CPR certification, with a commitment to patient safety and well-being.
  • Satisfactory completion of an approved ultrasonography educational program, with a strong foundation in diagnostic imaging principles and techniques.
