Endoscopy LPN

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Endoscopy department at St. Elizabeth Healthcare plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care. As a member of the surgical team, the LPN will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, licensed physician, or dentist to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures.

• Provide surgical/procedural care to designated operative patients under the direct supervision of a licensed RN, physician, or dentist.
• Respect patient confidentiality and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
• Assist the circulating nurse (RN) as directed and ensure ongoing personal growth and development.
• Prepare and administer medications in the prescribed dosage, route, frequency, and observe, record, and report desired effects, untoward reactions, and side effects of drug therapy.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and maintain licensure/certification and complete all mandatory CBL modules, MID, and in-service programs.
• Perform accurate initial/baseline sponge, needle, sharps, and instrument counts with the RN and adhere to Joint Commission, state, and other regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrate fiscal accountability by efficiently utilizing equipment and supplies based on patient, surgeon/proceduralist, and anesthesia provider needs.
• Respond to emergent surgical/procedural cases and be prepared and ready within the required time frame.
• Supervise, teach, mentor, and delegate to unlicensed personnel based on their training and education activities relating to nursing care.

• Graduate from an approved school of practical nursing.
• Meet state and regulatory requirements to legally apply for the position.
• Knowledge of nursing care standards and procedures, as well as the ability to independently perform safe nursing skills and techniques.
