Residence Director

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Residence Director to join our team at The College of New Jersey. As a key member of our Residential Education Department, you will be responsible for managing a residence area housing approximately 750 students within our cohort model residential education program.

• Supervise a staff of 10-20 Community Advisors (student employees), 2-3 Student Managers (student employees), and indirectly supervise 20 Desk Assistants (student employees).
• Ensure that campus Affirmative Action procedures and goals are met in hiring, training, and evaluating staff.
• Develop, implement, and facilitate on-going in-service training for hall staff, focusing on community development, programming, and human relations issues.
• Implement residence hall and area programs, working with staff to develop and fulfill programming objectives to ensure quality programming occurs in the areas of community development, appreciation of diversity, community service, and life skills.

• Bachelor's degree in student personnel administration or a related field that supports the development of college students.
• Experience with the student conduct process and residential education supervisory experience.
• Experience with crisis response.

• Master's degree in student personnel administration or a related field that supports the development of college students, combined with graduate-level work experience in residence life.
• One to two years' experience with direct oversight of a residence hall, including supervisory skills, proven commitment to student development, and diversity, and the ability to be flexible and work within a changing and growing residential program.
• Experience utilizing technology to train and educate students.
