Head Cashier

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Cashier to join our team at Natural Grocers. As a Head Cashier, you will be responsible for the successful operation of the front end, including cashiering, training, directing, and monitoring cashiers, providing World Class Customer Service, and supporting overall store operations.

Main Responsibilities:

• Provide World Class Customer Service and a positive customer experience as the number one priority.
• Exemplify integrity, responsibility, and excellence and adhere to all policies.
• Train and direct cashiers to ensure they are knowledgeable about the {N}Power program, donating to the local foodbank, and educating customers on the Nutrient to Know About.
• Complete the Daily Sales Report (DSR) and cashier closeout responsibilities.
• Issue and verify cash drawers, handle returns and overrides, and address customer complaints.
• Oversee completion of the front end task list daily and maintain all registers binders.
• Direct cashiers to tasks during slow times and perform general cashiering and check out duties.
• Monitor, assign, and perform cart checks, answer the telephone, and assist in managing special orders.
• Participate in tagging, facing, rotating, cleaning, markdowns, stocking, and backstock as needed.

Requirements:

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in retail, grocery, or natural foods background preferred.
• 1 year of cashiering experience and 1 year of supervising others preferred.
• Ability to pass food safety training courses and maintain compliance.
• Excellent customer service skills, highly organized, and attention to detail.
• Ability to take direction, follow through, and manage changing priorities.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to constantly lift or carry up to 10 lbs., frequently lift or carry 11-20 lbs., and occasionally lift or carry 21-50 lbs.
• Ability to frequently push or pull up to 15 lbs. and occasionally push or pull lbs.
• Ability to constantly walk, stand, use fine motor manipulations, grip, bend, twist, turn, and reach outward for the duration of the work shift.

Environmental Requirements:

• Ability to frequently work with sharp tools and equipment, dust, fumes, and congested worksite.
• Ability to occasionally work with noise, cold, heat, wet, humid, outside, heights, and contact stress.
